We are looking for a Director, Digital & Live Events to join our team. The Director, Digital & Live Events is responsible for the coordination and direction of a multi-disciplined team of Digital (Project Management) & Experiential Production (Live Events) staff. This role also works with freelance producers & project managers. Within Digital, the team delivers digital experiences large and small, including websites, virtual events & exhibits, interactive engagements, and other custom creative concepts. Our Experiential Producers deliver production support, including: interactive engagements, AV, and scenic for traditional face to face marketing (e.g.: trade shows, conventions, activations, meetings and events). A disciplined project manager themselves, this leader brings experience from a varied industry background, and can lead, mentor, and attract top talent. The ideal candidate has a background as a Digital Producer, Head of Production, or similar roles; in addition to clearly demonstrated leadership of multi-disciplined teams. The Director, Digital & Live Events will collaborate with Sales, Strategy & Creative to effectively manage the pipeline of projects, in addition to:

  • vetting proposed opportunities with a critical eye on their feasibility and profitability

  • identifying required resources both on creative & production sides

  • implementing digital project management templates & best practices

  • facilitating clear and concise communication across departments


  • Evaluate work requests from Creative and internal Account teams, as well as direct client requests.

  • Collaborate & communicate with team members and leadership stakeholders across all functions of the organization.

  • Maintain direct client contact (or through Impact XM Account Teams) to evaluate program/project needs, as well as to communicate production, technical, content and financial information.

  • Maintain schedule of all work requests & assignments in our collaborative tools.

  • Assign projects to Staff, Freelance and Service Provider resources.

  • Participate in regular meetings with Creative, Sales and Production leadership.

  • Be fully informed regarding project status. Be prepared to answer questions from internal departments or able to direct to a PM or proposal team.

  • Provide overall strategic direction and ensures that client-wide program goals, objectives, budgets, milestones, and deliverables are achieved.

  • Work with department leadership to bring new vendors, technologies, processes, and efficiencies to the table, with a thought-out, proposed game plan

  • Mentor and train PMs to oversee the production of virtual experiences and other technology and logistics deliverables from initial concept through development and deployment.

  • When needed, prepare proposals that include project description, budgets, schedules, milestones, functional specifications

  • Oversee production teams by recruiting, evaluating, and hiring key freelance talent/service providers, such as content experts, interface designers, instructional designers, art directors, creative directors, video and audio personnel, copy/script writers, technical leads, account managers, and/or project managers.

  • Oversight of individuals and process for handling payment of Freelance/Contract personnel, managing POs, payroll resources, timesheet tracking, etc.

  • Determine, allocate, and monitor technical and financial resources necessary to accomplish department goals or project objectives.

  • Review Departmental Financial performance regularly to maintain profitability goals/margins.


  • Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; and 10+ years’ experience as a Digital Production Lead or 10+ years of professional administration experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience producing content and digital activations for clients or agencies

  • Experience in physical tradeshows and/or events.

  • Pharmaceutical experience is a plus, but not required.

  • Must be able to communicate concepts to internal staff and clients

  • Proven track record of managing teams of various types of players with diplomacy, concern for their varied points of view, and the ability to understand how they all fit together: creatives, engineers, programmers, producers, AV technicians, designers, clients, account teams

  • Knowledge of accounting/financial processes.

  • Excellent management of external partners

  • Organization and detail-oriented. Able to maintain all project documentation, from proposal to timelines to final reconciliation.

  • Poise under pressure, and a good sense of humor are appreciated.

  • Strong understanding of UI/UX design, and how users learn about brands and interact with others via virtual experiences

  • Knowledge of software related to web design, video editing and graphic design

  • Understanding of data privacy rights and policies as they relate to the collection of individual’s information on virtual experiences

  • Comfort with regular use of Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. Other creative tools are a plus.

  • Knowledge of the digital landscape, including streaming solutions, videoconferencing platforms, virtual event platforms is desirable.

  • Understanding of the mechanics of metrics/reporting tools like Google Analytics for digital products

  • Familiarity and comfort working with digital platforms and tools; coupled with a knowledge of big players in the space
